I suppose Artix's new look was intended to make him look younger, as DF does take place approximately 10 years before modern day AQ (5 years before AQ began + AQ has been around for 5 years).

I admit, Artix could do with some work, but on the front page there's a picture of him with a redrawn version of his axe. The axe on it's own really makes the picture look awesome.
